layers

Manipulation outcome: in the process of experimenting with nontraditional materials

Final outcome was achieved by using cardboard and recycled material, I layered them on top of each other by the use of hand stitching I think it was very successful as I can envisage it being used as a dress if it was on a larger scale also I like the way the colours complement each other

Unusual surfaces

I was just given my new brief which i am really excited about getting stuck in as it’s something new that i have never thought of doing before. This was my first ever attempt at painting on top of a laminated tile my inspiration for this floral image is Shyma Ruffle who uses rejected prints and just layers on to it with images something I found quite intriguing . I think the tile was a great surface to start painting on to as it already had lots of lines which I felt could represent stems keeping her image in front of me I tried emulating it and I think I served it justice.

abstract artists (Jaison Cianelli)

Jaison Cianelli
born in 1980 near Boston ever since childhood he had an found himself admiring nature. He received a bachelor degree in Graphic and Industrial Design. He now paints abstract images his abstract work isd inspired by nature and inner feelings.

Inspired by Jaison I got a piece of material covered it with yellow dye then left it to dry I then went back to it and did some batik onto the fabric I tried making some oval shapes but batik being batik it was quite tricky to get the lines and shapes as narrow looking meaning  fine thin lines. I didn’t feel it was that successful as the colours did not turn out right meaning they were left quite pale looking initially the colours were very dark just like the image above but as soon as I left it to dry the colours just became lighter maybe by using a different type of fabric would help keep the colour standing out rather than absorbing it

i really like how the colour complement each other

My unusual surface was a piece of plank. First I coated the plank with white acrylic paint I then got a glue gun and splodged it everywhere and was attempting to make circles, then i painted on the lumpy glue that had dried giving it a beautiful texture as I loved the colours that Jaison uses in his abstract paintings I tried my best to get the colour pallet as precise as possible

Sonia Delaunay

The wife of Robert Delaunay who was and artist himself. Sonia found incredible successes in her life as an artist she often lived in the shadow of her husband. Sonia's work extended from painting to textile design, fashion, wall coverings and stage set design. She was known as a leading figure liberating colour and movement she was an colourist, abstract painter whose work is very commendable and appreciated up until this day.

her work is very abstract and i also feel its got a geometric element to it because of the circles.

recycled book

The first step for me is to make a sketch book for the second brief I was given in which i could record and analyse my progress also annotate in and since this is a recycled based brief it was only appropriate for me to use recycled materials. So I did some research so I could get some sort of inspiration and I came across this

book made out of bark by Susan Porteous

Book shaped as a collar by Erica spritzer made by handmade paper

book made by Nisa Blackmon by using Cotton paper and found map.
After I looked into some recycled books i got lots of ideas but I found some black card and did some batik on it I really liked the effect that it gave so I stuck with it.

layers2

Add caption

This layering technique was made by stitching some old buttons on some hessian, cardboard, bubble wrap and wool

I was really satisfied with the outcome as I felt I had created something unique that was appealing to the eyes
