Evaluation

Initially I responded positively to the brief but as the days progressed I felt that time was slipping out of my hands although I did complete all the requirements I felt by having more time on hand this project could have had a so much better outcome as I was full of ideas that I wanted to progress onwards.
The theme for this project was ‘journey’ and from the little trips I took to the park, walk to college and so forth I realized by looking through the pictures that was taken I was drawn to the organic arch shapes due to its elegance it caught my attention so I took it from there and produced a few sketches and it just went from there that my ideas progressed further.

Overall the time was well managed being a short project time was not really on our side but I tried my up most best to produce a verity of samples. The technique I enjoyed the most was mono printing which was something that was new to me fairly straight forward that left me with a great finish. Initially I hadn’t thought of doing screen printing and mono printing together but these two techniques went very good together and felt as though they complemented one another.

The inspiration for my ideas came from pictures I took a lot came from various ancient catalogue. I looked into a few artists the main being William Morris I also looked into the art movement of art nouveau as I felt that it had similar use of style and it related to the work I was doing.
The few problems I encountered was whilst doing the mono printing I used the lino ink which smudged a few places which left me with a few stains I solved this problem however much I could by layering that area with some screen printing.
Overall I could have developed my work further by using silk instead of cotton as the motif would have fit so well on silk giving it a bit of a shimmer and a good finished look. I could see it as a fashion piece maybe a Chinese kimono or it could even look great as a pair of curtains
